Ion Stendl was born in Resiţa, Romania,
on the 18th of February
1939.

He studies "Monumental Painting" with
the
professors
Ion Popescu- Negreni, Stefan
Constantinescu
and Gheorghe Popescu at
the Fine Arts Institute "Nicolae
Grigorescu"
in
Bucharest, the
decorative arts faculty.

After the graduation, he remains at
the
same
institute as preparator at the
"Monumental Painting" departament.
1966 he becomes assistant
1973 lecturer. He did not promovate
later because he was not a communist
party
member.
1990 he is named professor at the
"Mural
Art" departament
.
